Curriculum

The curriculum at Kite Ridge School is divided into three areas of focus – academic, therapeutic and behaviour support. Each student has different, rather than differentiated, outcomes, based on their areas of strength and need, delivered through an accessible, individualised timetable. All our students have an EHCP and outcomes are taken from these, combined with the aspirations of the student and family, and the requirements for transition into adulthood.

The academic curriculum is based on schemes of work from White Rose Maths, Twinkl Phonics, Rhino Readers, Equals Semi Formal and Equals Informal curriculum. The Equals scheme incorporates communication, thinking and problem solving, the world about us and health and well-being. Careers opportunities are explored with the support of our Careers Advisor and Bucks Skills Hub, with access to appropriate work experience for each student.

The therapeutic curriculum is again individualised to each student based on the identified needs from the EHCP and any other medical or therapy report. These are incorporated into the daily timetable and supported by Occupational and Speech and Language Therapists engaged by the school.

The behaviour support team works closely with the academic and therapy teams to explore strategies and create support programmes for encouraging self-regulation, reducing anxieties, and encouraging engagement and achievement each day.

Incorporating all three areas of the curriculum in a personalised and flexible way supports the students at Kite Ridge School to achieve, progress and flourish-

If you have any questions about the bespoke curriculum that our school follows please do not hesitate to contact us on 01494 448 497 or email office@kiteridge.bucks.sch.uk
