School Lunches
Kite Ridge School provides on-site cooked or prepared lunches for all students who would like one. We pride ourselves on the fact that our Catering Assistant prepares meals on-site, using fresh ingredients. Since Kite Ridge has begun providing lunch prepared internally the uptake has increased and the meals are enjoyed far more than when an outside provider was used.
We use a five-weekly rota for school lunches, a sample of which is as follows:
Week 1:
Monday - Jacket potato with a choice of toppings (usually available toppings are cheese, tuna and beans) and salad
Tuesday - Butter chicken curry or Sweet potato, chickpea & spinach curry, rice, popadoms & salad
Wednesday - Beef or Vegetable lasagne, garlic bread, and salad
Thursday - Chicken or vegetable chow mein, "prawn" crackers and salad
Friday - Fish fingers or Vegetable samosas, chips, beans and salad
Week 2:
Monday - Jacket potato with a choice of toppings (usually available toppings are cheese, tuna and beans) with salad
Tuesday - Macaroni cheese, Tomato and bacon pasta bake or Pesto pasta, garlic bread and salad
Wednesday - Beef, chicken or vegetable burgers, potato wedges, beans and salad
Thursday - Cheese and tomato or Pepperoni pizza, garlic bread and salad
Friday - Fish or quorn nuggets, chips, peas and salad
Week 3:
Monday - Jacket potato with a choice of toppings (usually available toppings are cheese, tuna and beans) with salad
Tuesday - Spaghetti bolognese or Vegetable bolognese, garlic bread and salad
Wednesday - Chicken or Pea and Paneer korma, rice, popadoms & salad
Thursday - Carbonara or Vegetable carbonara, garlic bread & salad
Friday - Fish fingers or Vegetable samosas, chips, beans and salad
Week 4:
Monday - Jacket potato with a choice of toppings (usually available toppings are cheese, tuna and beans) with salad
Tuesday - Cheese and tomato or Pepperoni pizza, garlic bread and salad
Wednesday - Chicken or Pea and Paneer korma, rice, popadoms & salad
Thursday - Beef or Vegetable chilli, rice, tortilla chips and salad
Friday - Fish or quorn nuggets, chips, beans and salad
Week 5:
Monday - Jacket potato with a choice of toppings (usually available toppings are cheese, tuna and beans) with salad
Tuesday - Macaroni cheese, tomato and bacon pasta bake or pesto pasta, garlic bread and salad
Wednesday - Morrocan chicken or Morrocan vegetables, green beans and salad
Thursday - Chicken or Pea and Paneer korma, rice, popadoms & salad
Friday - Fish fingers or Vegetable samosas, chips, beans and salad
Pudding is also provided each day. This varies week to week, but includes Apple crumble & custard, Jelly, Lemon drizzle cake, home-made biscuits, ice cream, and a selection of fresh fruit & yogurt each day.
Some students require different lunches depending on their dietary and sensory needs and if lunches are required these can usually be catered for.
If you would like your child to have a hot or prepared lunch while at school these are charged at £3.00 per day, charged at the end of each half term in partial arrears. We require payments in cash, cheque and we can now also offer the option to pay by bank transfer. If you believe that you may be entitled to Free School Meals, a form is sent home in the permissions pack which is provided at the start of each Academic Year.
